Jimmy Rollins is headed to the DL

The Phanatic Magazine has been informed that shortstop Jimmy Rollins will be placed on the disabled list. Rollins has been sidelined since spraining his ankle near the second base bag against the New York Mets last week.

Rollins is in California for his uncle's funeral and he won't return to the ball club until Saturday. It is not certain if the club will wait until then -- because of bereavement leave -- to place him on the DL.

Scott Lauber's blog first reported that Rollins underwent an "informational" MRI. The club's current stance is that Rollins is progressing nicely.
