Goaltender Martin Biron has won this season’s Toyota Cup as the Flyer who accumulated the most points associated with being selected as a “Star of the Game.” Five points were awarded for being selected First Star, three points were awarded for a Second Star performance and one point was awarded for a Third Star selection. Biron was named First Star five times, Second Star eight times and Third Star three times for 52 points.
Biron was presented with the Toyota Cup in a ceremony prior to today’s Flyers-Pittsburgh Penguins game at the Wachovia Center by Bob McCormick, representing the Tri-State Toyota Dealers. In addition, the Tri-State Toyota Dealers have made a $5,000 donation in the name of Biron to the Athletes Against Autism.
Biron has compiled a 29-20-9 record, a 2.64 GAA, .917 save percentage and four shutouts in 61 games for the Flyers this season.
This is the seventh year for the Toyota Cup award. Previous winners are:
