Sixers-Pistons Game 1 reaction

Maurice Cheeks:

"There's no question that we grew up in the second half. We were a little nervous in the first half and we were speeding the game up on ourselves, but we settled down. That comes with the magnitude of the moment - we were getting caught up in it."

"When Rip Hamilton misses free throws, Chauncey Billups misses free throws and Reggie Evans hits a fadeaway, our chances are good."

"Rasheed made a lot of shots in the first half, but we were going to stay with Sam 1-on-1 with him, without any help. We wanted to be able to guard the 3 and not get beat outside."

(Iggy) "They ran a lot of guys at him, and that's what we expected. They are one of the best defensive teams in the league."

Andre Iguodala:

"They did a great job of setting the defense up. They were trying to cheat off Reggie Evans but I think Coach Cheeks just kept telling me to keep attacking no matter what. He kept coming up with plays for me down the stretch and kept putting the ball in my hands and told me to make something happen."

"It's not that hard because you've been through that situation so many times. I've had bad shooting nights throughout the whole year. And I think those were learning experiences -- just for this point coming in tonight."

Willie Green:

"It was a great game by us and it was a great victory by us. Guys went out there and played hard against a really good Detroit Pistons team and we will take it, we will take the win."

"We talked about that at halftime. Our energy was a little low and those guys got a lot of offensive rebounds in the first half. We just wanted to try and make some adjustments and we were able to do that in the second half with some more energy. We were going 110 miles an hour out there early and running and gunning, but the game slowed down for us out there and guys made big plays down the stretch. Our defense was key and it was a big win for us, big victory."

"He (Miller) is always big for us, especially down the stretch. Get the ball to him, put it in his hands and let him go to work hitting big shot after big shot."

Rasheed Wallace:

"I missed shots in that fourth quarter that I should have made. I'm going to put this one on me."

"We knew they were going to play hard. That's what they're known for, for the season. But there's no excuses. I got this one. I put it on me."

"The majority of them (shots they wanted), yeah. We just missed them."

"I think for the most part, especially that last bunny that I missed, that was a damn sure bucket I should have made. I'm going to take this one on the chin. Gotta keep moving, go to practice tomorrow, probably watch film, find out what went wrong. Come back out Wednesday and correct it."

Tayshaun Prince:

"Even though they made a run and cut it to five, six, we got back out of the gate and made things happen. We were up 12, 13, however many we were up at the half, we've got to build on that. But like I said before the series, they're a young team, they play hard and it got them back in the game. We let them back in the game."

"It happens. Obviously you're upset about it because it's the playoffs and you want to make every shot."

Antonio McDyess:

"I can't recall since I've been here, losing the first game at home. We're not going to panic. We know what we need to do now. It just put us behind again. They're up in the series."

"No question. Everyone's shocked. A couple guys came in here and stared around and looked at each other, because we were in disbelief, couldn't believe it. But things didn't go our way tonight. Hopefully it will get better the next game."

Jason Maxiell:

"They came out in the fourth more aggressive than we were. They hit us and we didn't retaliate to tie them up and they got the win."

"They're a team that plays hard every possession. We didn't do the same and come out with the win."

Rip Hamilton:

"It was definitely a game that we wanted to win. They came out and played harder than us and got a 'W.'"

"We didn't look good at all tonight. We knew they were going to try to take a lot of things away from us like that, so we (him and CB) have to do a better job of taking our time on our shots. We were getting the shots that we wanted."

"It was tough. A lot of stuff happened at the end of the game that we usually don't expect to happen. But it happened. They won the first game. Got to try to come out and get the next one."

"We've been here before. A lot of guys on that team, it's their first time. We had them down 16 but they kept playing hard. They came back and ended up getting a win so we've got to do a better job of just staying with our stuff."

"Anything can happen in the playoffs. We had that lineup (him, CB and Hunter) a couple of years ago. So it was different but we've got two point guards out there. It's easy for us to get into sets and things like that."

"Max was unbelievable. If we got a bright spot tonight, it was him. He played
aggressive. He had 11 rebounds, which was big. He was awesome tonight."

Flip Saunders:

"I don't know. We had a lot of opportunities, and we missed a lot of easy shots and a lot of free throws. We didn't come up with the plays we needed."

"We've got to fire back on Wednesday. It's a must-win game now."

"When you miss some easy shots, you start worrying about your shots, and then you miss more of them."

"We've got to take care of the ball. Almost 20 percent of their offense came from our offense, and we're usually able to control that."
Chauncey Billups:

"I think what happens is we had a horrible start to the third quarter and it throws us out of rhythm. My missed free throws were big and the missed layup was big. At the end, Sheed had a layup - the shot we wanted - and he missed it. What can you do?"

"We're going to be all right. We have been here before. We don't want to hang our hat on that, but it is a fact. We've been here before, and we know what it takes."
