The Philadelphia Eagles today announced their 2008 schedule.
The Eagles will begin the regular season at Lincoln Financial Field for the first time since 2004 when they face the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, September 7. The Eagles last hosted the Rams on opening day in 2001.
They are slated to play five nationally-televised primetime contests in 2008, including a Thanksgiving night game at home vs. the Arizona Cardinals on NFL Network. The game will mark the Eagles first appearance on Thanksgiving Day since November 23, 1989, when they shutout the Cowboys, 27-0, in Dallas. Overall, the Eagles have a 3-1 record on Thanksgiving, including a 12-0 shutout at Detroit on November 28, 1968. The Eagles last hosted a Thanksgiving Day game in 1940, when they were shutout, 7-0, by Pittsburgh at Shibe Park. One year earlier, the Eagles defeated the Steelers, 17-14, at Municipal Stadium in Philadelphia.
The 2008 schedule also features two Sunday Night Football games on NBC (at Chicago on September 28 and vs. the New York Giants on November 9) and two Monday Night Football contests on ESPN (at Dallas on September 15 and vs. Cleveland on December 15).
Philadelphia closes the regular season with three NFC East opponents in the month of December. They travel to New York to face the Giants on December 7 and to Washington to square off against the Redskins on December 21, before concluding their regular season campaign at home for the fifth straight year, as they host the Dallas Cowboys on December 28.
CBS Radio is the official radio broadcast partner of the Eagles. In 2008, all games will be simulcast on WYSP (94.1 FM) and WIP (610 AM). For more information on tickets and other Eagles events in 2008, please log on to philadelphiaeagles.com.
