Rumor: Briere gets offer from Sabres

It's not Flyers news per say, the TheFourthPeriod.com is reporting that the Buffalo Sabres have offered soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Daniel Briere a long-term contract.

Briere, set to be arguably the best available free agent when the market opens on July 1, is expected to be a target of the Flyers this offseason. The high-scoring center would fill a big void up the middle for Philadelphia if they can convince him to come to the City of Brotherly Love.

The same report as says the Sabres have been discussions with center Chris Drury. Drury is also expected to get top dollar this summer, but isn't on the Flyers radar as most reports have him going to a west coast team if he doesn't re-sign with Buffalo.
