Flyers draft roundup

The Flyers traded the Nashville Predators' third round pick (84th overall - previously acquired) and a second round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft to the Washington Capitals in exchange for the Carolina Hurricanes' second round pick (41st overall - previously acquired) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The Flyers selected the following players during Rounds One through Seven of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft in Columbus:

JAMES vanRIEMSDYK, Left Wing: Selected by the Flyers in the first round (second overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft...Born on May 4, 1989 in Middletown, New Jersey...6'3", 200 pounds...Shoots left...Played this past season for the United States Under-18 National Team Development Program team...Recorded 33 goals and 30 assists for 63 points and 81 penalty minutes in 42 games...Led the team in goals (33), points (63), penalty minutes (81), power play goals (11) and game-winning goals (6)...Was second on the team in assists with 30...Was a member of bronze medal-winning Team USA at the 2007 World Junior Championship tournament, scoring a goal in seven games...Played for the U.S. Under-17 NTDP team during the 2005-06 season, recording 42 points (26G,16A) in 55 games...Won a gold medal with Team USA at the Under-18 World Championships...Helped Team USA to a silver medal at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, where he posted nine points (5G,4A) in seven games and was named to the All-Tournament Team...Will attend the University of New Hampshire for the 2007-08 school year...Ranked third among North American prospects on Central Scouting's final report.

KEVIN MARSHALL, Defense: Selected by the Flyers in the second round (41st overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft...Born on March 10, 1989 in Boucherville, Quebec...6'1", 191 pounds...Shoots left...Played this past season for the Lewiston MAINE-iacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League...Registered five goals and 27 assists for 32 points and 141 penalty minutes in 70 regular season games for the MAINE-iacs...Led the team in penalty minutes with 141(tied for 20th in the QMJHL)...Was second among QMJHL defensemen in plus/minus at +34...Posted seven assists and 38 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games as Lewiston won the QMJHL Championship...Was one of 40 draft-eligible players selected to play in the 2007 CHL Top Prospects Game and played for Team White...Attended the Team Canada Selection Camp for the 2006 Junior World Cup...Ranked 63rd among North American prospects on Central Scouting's final report.
