Lice CFFC 5 coverage - Catone - Howard

Atlantic City, NJ (Phanatic Magazine) - The middleweights took center stage again as fan favorite Nick Catone of Brick, NJ faced off with the more experienced John Howard. Catone fed off the energy of the crowd and pushed the action in Round 1. Howard bounced back and decked Catone with a leg kick in Round 2. He also caught him with a kick to the face from his guard and went for an arm bar submission on two occasions before the bell. The fighters tired in round 3 but Catone scored with a few knees and a number of punches as time expired. Catone gets the unanimous decision, 30-27, 29-28, 29-28.

The Fans are really excited about Nick Catone. This fight, I believe, was only his second true MMA fight, and he was not originally on the card for CFFC 5. The title holder Dan Miller suffered an injury, and at the last minute Nick Catone was called upon to take the fight. His opponent was a very respected MMA fighter with all submission wins to his credit. I would say that Nick Catone did a fantastic job in this fight considering that he is new to this arena of fighting. Despite being placed in a difficult situation Nick Catone went up against a fighter who was previously scheduled to fight for the Championship Title Belt in the Middleweight Division. Not only did Nick Catone win the fight, he dominated the action, and won a Unanimous Decision.... This guy, Nick Catone, looks to be the real deal, up and coming, MMA fighter that the crowd is waiting to cheer for! As a true MMA Fan I am excited to follow Catone's career in this sport, and by the sounds of support in the stands it appears the stadium is filled with fans just like me.
