Nits News; Vick, Gillick and Wiley on A1

Smile Pat, you are being dissected by The Phanatic Magazine's John Gottlieb, who wonders where Gillick's proficiency for finding and keeping talent went during front office stints. Greg Wiley returns to the Front Page with his weekly rant on Tiger's new cub, Phillies bullpen issues and his ever-popular fantasy club.
Jeff Glauser doesn't give Gillick or the rest of Philadelphia's pro sports braintrust high marks, detailing the present and future competency of each organization. Speaking of high marks, Michael Vick sure isn't getting any from former Vikings beat writer John McMullen. His relationship with Nike is now under McMullen's microscope.
In Penn State news, three games -- including a Week 2 showdown with Notre Dame -- now have concrete kickoff times. The Nittany Lions and Fighting Irish will square off at 6 p.m. (et) on September 8 at Beaver Stadium. Also, star safety Anthony Scirrotto was expelled until August for his role in an April 1 fight at Gateway Apartments.
This excerpt from the Centre-Daily Times: The four players who were expelled for the second summer semester -- Scirrotto, Lydell Sargeant, defensive tackle Christopher Baker and linebacker Jerome Hayes -- were told they would be allowed to return to campus Aug. 6 for preseason workouts, sources said. Normally, expelled students would not be allowed on campus until the expulsion ends, in this case on Aug. 17.
