Right-hander Jon Lieber was placed on the 15-day disabled list with an avulsion of the peroneus longus tendon, the Phillies announced today. The move is retroactive to June 21. To replace him on the 25-man roster, the club purchased the contract of right-hander Clay Condrey from Triple-A Ottawa.

Lieber, 37, was taken out of his last start, this past Wednesday against the Indians at Jacobs Field, in the sixth inning with a right ankle strain. In 14 games this season (12 starts), Lieber was 3-6 with a 4.73 ERA, including a 9.0-inning shutout on June 9 at Kansas City.

This is Lieber's second trip to the disabled list this year. He began the season on the DL with a right oblique strain suffered in spring training.

Condrey, 31, has shuttled between Philadelphia and Ottawa since the season started. At the minor league level, he was 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA in six relief appearances. With the Phillies, he is 2-0 with a 9.00 ERA in 12 games. He last appeared in a major league game on June 8 at Kansas City, when he pitched 3.1 scoreless innings against the Royals.
