Live UFC 101 coverage

Philadelphia, PA - We are live from the Wachovia Center for UFC 101..

Welterweights Jesse Lennox and Danillo Villefort kicked things off with a high-action fight. Lennox wins by TKO at 3:37 of Round 3 after Villefort got cut when their heads clashed while on the ground grappling.

The referee ruled the cut was caused by a punch, not a head-butt, therefore it was not ruled a no contest. Even Lennox seemed to know that the cut was from a head butt and was a little hot it was stopped.

"It's disappointing. I've been cut a lot worse than that and kept going," Lennox said. "I would have been upset if I were him."

Lightweights George Roop and George Sotiripoulos are next....Sotiropoulos gets the tap out with a Kimura at 1:59 of Round 2...

"He was good at defensing his arm," Sotiripoulos said. "But, he spent a lot of energy defensing it."

Another welterweight bout is next; Matthew Riddle and Dan Cramer. Cramer had Riddle in a guillotine but Riddle was able to break in Rd 1.

"I learned the escape from [Quinton] Rampage [Jackson]," Riddle said. "I knew his arms would get tired, he would gas and I would pass the ground-and-pound."

Things slowed from there and the sold-out crowd tot a little restless for the first time. Easy unanimous decision for Riddle.
Scores were 29-27, 30-26 and 30-27.

"Cramer's a tough guy," Riddle said. "It didn't matter how many elbows I hit him with, I knew he would never give up."

Middleweights Thales Leites and Alessio Sakara are on deck...Philly just showed up..booing Leites and Sakara out of the building...Yahoo!'s Dave Meltzer says that the fighters were all warned earlier in the week about it being Philadelphia. Split decision for Sakara, 29-28, 29-28, 27-30.

Strange decision. Most at ringside had it 30-27 for Leitis but neither fighter impressed.

"I like my job but I like to give a great show for my fans," Sakara said. "I'm sorry to may fans that weren't happy but my opponent is very tough. I have a lot of respect for Thales Leites."

Another welterweight bout is up, John Howard and Tamdan McCrory. Howard takes a split decision in another yawner. Joe Rogan makes his first appearance to interview Howard.

"I wasn't sure about the decision," Howard said. "I knew I had him on takedowns but I get nervous at split decisions. I'm happy to get win."

20 minutes to the pay-per-view portion...

PPV is underway with lightweights John Neer and Kurt Pellegrino...Jersey's Pellegrino with the unanimous decision...

Ricardo Almeida and Kendall Grove are next in a middleweight bout...Another unanimous decison, this one for Almeida.

Welterweight swing bout between Johnny Hendricks and Amir Sadollah is up next...Hendricks in seconds...fight was probably stopped too quickly by ref Dan Miragliotta...Crowd is hot

Randy Couture out with his new girlfriend a while ago while Tito Ortiz was booed out of the place...

Aaron Riley and Shane Nelson moved to main card as things are running short...

Shane Victorino in the house, Phils must be done..

Now it's Jayson Werth...

Riley 30-27 on all three scoreboards...

First fight in the stands...We are in Philly...nice right cross by a blonde chick...

The big boys are up next...Silva and Griffin...crowd going nuts for Griffin. Silva is definitely the heel...That my friends was a massacre. Silva three knockdowns, Griffin booed while leaving. Silva is quite simply the best fighter in the world.

Penn and Florian closes things.

How Penn gets up to fight with his theme music is beyond me...B.J. almost laid Florian out with knees late in the first but the underdog managed to hang on...

Can't believe Florian is hanging with Penn, heading to Round 3...must be the music that lulled Penn to sleep...

Florian is still kicking and actually won Rd 3. Win, lose or draw at this point Penn is a disappointment...

Woke B.J. up, dominated Rd 4 from the start and put Florian away with a choke....
