DMac matures

If Dale Doback and Brennan Huff can mature at 40, I suppose Donovan McNabb can also turn over a new leaf.

For the first time in his life, McNabb is saying the right things when addressing Michael Vick's presence on the Eagles.

McNabb says he has no problem with Vick taking some of his snaps at QB and let opponents know that both he and Vick could be on the field together at times.

"I’ll be a receiver. I might be a tight end," McNabb said Monday. "You never know where I’ll be."

McNabb's open mind has to be a bit of a shock since this is a guy who was jealous of the limited Jeff Garcia and had a problem with Kevin Kolb, who flat out can't play, getting reps. Vick, while flawed, is undeniably talented. In fact, everyone's favorite felon has far more physical gifts than McNabb.

Despite that, McNabb said he first lobbied the Eagles to sign Vick a month ago.

"I believe in second chances and I have strong faith in God that he forgives our sins," said McNabb. "Yes, it was a bad thing and a malicious act, but somewhere in your heart, you have to have forgiveness.

"He’s done a great job. You have to be excited about his work ethic and attitude. I see a guy doing whatever it takes to turn his life around. He’s going through the proper channels."

Vick was signed by the Eagles last week, presumably as a Wildcat type player. However, it's hard to believe Vick won't surpass Kolb and A.J. Feeley to become the primary backup.

"I’ve been through many situations here throughout my career when they’ve cheered for the backup," McNabb said. "It happened with Garcia. It happened with (Kevin) Kolb. It happened with A.J. (Feeley). I’m used to that."
