Conventional wisdom said Omar Gaither would move back to middle linebacker after Stewart Bradley went down with a season-ending ACL injury but the Eagles tried to sell you on second-year player Joe Mays.
Problem is, after watching Mays play, the Eagles couldn't sell themselves and Gaither will be back in the middle taking all the first team snaps in practice this week.
"I want to see Omar come out and handle the reins of the defense in terms of the leadership, make the huddle call, get us lined up, quarterback the defense and then from a health standpoint that he has confidence in his leg," Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott told the team's Web site.
