Eagles sign a pair; cut DiMichele

The Eagles made a series of roster moves today, inking tight end Tony Curtis and linebacker Curtis Gatewood and releasing former Temple quarterback Adam DiMichele and former Delaware State wide receiver Shaheer McBride.

Curtis (6-foot-5, 251 pounds) was originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a rookie free agent in 2005 and spent most of the 2005 and 2006 seasons on the team’s practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster in October of 2006 and appeared in 36 games (six starts), recording 11 catches for 50 yards and three touchdowns.

Curtis, 26, signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in April of this year but was released on August 4. A Seaside, Calif. native, Curtis played collegiately at Portland State after spending two seasons at Fresno Community College in California.

Gatewood (6-foot-2, 248 pounds ) signed with the Washington Redskins as a rookie free agent following the 2008 draft. After spending most of the season on the Redskins practice squad, Gatewood signed with the Chiefs in November, tallying four special teams tackles in six games.

A Memphis, Tenn. native, the 22-year-old Gatewood was waived by the Chiefs on April 21 and claimed by the Detroit Lions. He was released by the Lions on August 17. G

Gatewood played collegiately at Vanderbilt, where he recorded 110 tackles and 10.5 sacks in 47 games (24 starts).
