Sixers' Dancers off to China

Members of the Sixers Dancers have been selected to represent the NBA as they travel halfway around the world to China in a trip that begins today.

Throughout their 10-day journey, the Dancers will make a series of appearances touring with the NBA Jam Van and participate in the NBA’s first-ever reality TV show.

“As a fourth year member of the Sixers Dancers this is one of the most exciting opportunities we have had,” said Sixers Dancer Erica. “I am honored to experience the Chinese culture, perform for our fans, and most of all be a part of such a memorable experience.”

The Dancers will travel with the China NBA Jam Van to several stops where they will sign autographs, take pictures with fans and show off their dance routines performed regularly at Sixers games.

The China NBA Jam Van is a 52-foot truck that transforms into 1,000 square meters of basketball playgrounds, where fans can show off their basketball skills. A series of contests will take place including dribbling, passing, shooting, and the HP NBA Slam Jam Challenge. The purpose of the Jam Van’s stops is for fans to experience the excitement of the NBA.

After they complete their 3-day tour with the Jam Van, they will make an appearance in the NBA’s first-ever reality TV show is called, “Mengniu NBA Basketball Disciple”. The show is a 3-month basketball competition opened to the public, at numerous cities in China. The Dancers will make their appearance when the show visits Beijing.
