Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier missed his team's practice last Friday so he could attend the memorial service for longtime Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson at the Linc.
“It was a tough time,” Frazier, who was a defensive assistant under Johnson from 1999 to 2002, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Monday. “Even the day before heading out, it was tough to focus on what we had to do here. I had to keep bringing myself back to my responsibilities here, because I kept thinking about Jim and what was going to happen the next day.
"He was a tremendous friend and mentor of mine. I’m going to miss him a lot and miss being able to pick up the phone when we are getting ready to play whoever, and ask him some questions about this quarterback or that guy. It was a very emotional day.”
Johnson passed away from metastatic melanoma on July 28.
