Martin Biron made 31 saves to post his first shutout of the season as Philadelphia topped Atlanta, 4-0, at the Wachovia Center.
Biron posted his 19th career whitewash and his first in a Flyers uniform for Philadelphia, which has won four of its first five games to begin the year.
The Flyers did not win their fourth game last season until November 15, and had not shut out an opponent since a 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks in Philly on October 30, 2006.
Jeff Carter picked up a goal and one assist, Mike Richards, Sami Kapanen and Randy Jones also tallied while Joffrey Lupul added two helpers in the victory.
Johan Hedberg allowed four goals on 33 shots for the Thrashers, who have lost six in a row to start the season.
The first period passed without a goal, but each netminder made a pair of spectacular saves on point-blank chances to keep the game scoreless.
After killing off a carry-over Atlanta power play in the early part of the second, Richards put the Flyers up at 1:21 by whacking home a bouncing puck at the right post.
It was 2-0 with 7:04 to play as Carter carried down the left wing and fired high towards the net, where the puck changed direction past Hedberg and hit the back of the net on the far side.
Only 34 seconds later, Philly took a 3-0 lead as R.J. Umberger fired from the left circle and the rebound trickled through Hedberg's pads, only to be poked into an open net by a trailing Kapanen.
Jones ballooned the advantage to 4-0 at 8:09 of the third on a top-shelf one- timer off a pass from Carter.
Biron shored up his shutout by stopping all 12 shots he faced over the final 20 minutes.
