Penn State basketball to hold Blue-White game

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA., Oct. 18, 2007 – The Penn State men’s basketball team will hold a Blue-White Game scrimmage open to the public on Saturday, Oct. 27 in the Bryce Jordan Center prior to the Nittany Lions Big Ten football clash with Ohio State.

Doors to the Bryce Jordan Center will open at 3:00 p.m. with the Nittany Lions taking the floor at 4:00 p.m. for a full 40-minute, officiated intra-squad scrimmage. Admission is free. The Blue-White Game immediately precedes “The Nittany Lion Tailgreat Show” in the Jordan Center, which begins at 6:00 p.m., and the football game with the Buckeyes, which is set for an 8:00 p.m. kickoff on ABC.

Penn State, picked to finish as high as fourth in the Big Ten by the Sporting News, returns four starters and its top three scorers and rebounders from last season headed by All-Big Ten honorees Geary Claxton and Jamelle Cornley. Claxton is the top rebounder (8.0 rpg) and second leading scorer (16.3 ppg) among Big Ten returners in 2007-08.

Six new players will also join the Nittany Lion line-up giving Penn State its deepest and most athletic team in five seasons under coach Ed DeChellis. Penn State will play an exhibition game vs. Slippery Rock at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 in the Jordan Center before opening the season at home vs. St. Francis (PA) on Monday, Nov. 12 in a 7:00 p.m. tip.
