Flyers assign three to Wheeling

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have assigned right wings David Laliberte and Gino Pisellini and defenseman Mike Vannelli to the Flyers' ECHL affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren.

Laliberte, 21, was scoreless in one game for the Flyers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, this season. In 68 games for Prince Edward Island (QMJHL) last season, Laliberte recorded 50 goals and 48 assists for 98 points and 86 penalty minutes. He was signed as a free agent by the Flyers on May 17, 2007.

Pisellini, 21, has not appeared in a game for the Phantoms this season. Last year, he posted two points (1G,1A) and 53 penalty minutes in 32 games for the Phantoms. He also appeared in 23 games for Trenton (ECHL) last season, registering a goal and three assists for four points and 65 penalty minutes. He was drafted by the Flyers in the fifth round (149th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Vannelli, 24, has not appeared in a game for the Phantoms this season. In 44 games at the University of Minnesota last season, he posted 10 goals and 29 assists for 39 points and 42 penalty minutes. He was signed as a free agent by the Phantoms after attending Training Camp on a try-out contract.
