Tempe, AZ – Arizona Cardinals cornerback ROD HOOD has been named this week’s “NFC Defensive Player of the Week” for his performance in last Sunday’s 34-31 victory at the St. Louis Rams.
Hood, who celebrated his 26th birthday last Thursday, had a career-high two interceptions in the Cardinals victory including one that he returned 68-yards for a touchdown to put the Cardinals ahead 27-20 in the fourth quarter. Hood’s interceptions were his first of the season and his touchdown was his first score since he was in high school.
This is Hood’s first career Player of the Week selection and he becomes the first Cardinals defensive player to win the award since defensive end Bertrand Berry was honored in Week 10 in 2004. Hood becomes the 18th player in team history to win the defensive player of the week honor and the first cornerback to win the award since Aeneas Williams in Week 10 of the 2000 season.
