The Phillies declined to exercise team options on catcher Rod Barajas and infielder Abraham Nunez Thursday.
Barajas had a $5 million team option for 2008 and Nunez had a $2.5 million option.
The 32-year-old Barajas was one of the most unpopular players with the Philly fans after batting .230 with four home runs and 10 RBI in 48 games in 2007. Nunez, a defensive specialist, hit .234 with 16 RBI in 136 games, including 51 starts at third base.
The team had to pay a $500,000 buyout option to get out of Barajas' deal.
The Phillies also designated pitcher Kane Davis for assignment. Davis, 32, spent most of last season with Triple-A Ottawa but went 0-1 with a 5.56 ERA in 11 games with the big club.
