Scott pleads not guilty to rape charges

Suspended Penn State running back Austin Scott pleaded not guilty Wednesday on felony rape and sexual-assault charges at a preliminary hearing.

Judge Daniel Hoffman also upheld several misdemeanor charges against the Allentown native and ordered him to stand trail.

Prosecutors did withdraw two felony charges of aggravated indecent assault because of a lack of evidence.

Scott is claiming the alleged encounter was consensual. The accuser, who is also a Penn State student, testified that she and Scott met previously and had been text messaging each other before meeting at a local bar.The rape allegedly occurred after that meeting on October 5 at Scott's on-campus apartment.
