WWE suspends main event performer for drug use

World Wrestling Entertainment suspended one of its most popular performers for a second violation of the company's drug policy on Tuesday.

Jeff Hardy, who recently headlined the company’s second biggest pay per view event (The Royal Rumble), was suspended for 60 days. The company refused to say what drugs were involved but Hardy has struggled with recreational dugs in the past, including methamphetamine.

Hardy was scheduled to wrestle at the WWE’s flagship event, Wrestlemania XXIV set for March 30 in Orlando, Florida.

The WWE‘s drug policy has received harsh criticism from Congress for suspected loopholes. The policy includes a 30-day suspension without pay for a first violation, a 60-day suspension for a second violation and firing for a third violation. Performers are tested at least four times per year. Last August, WWE suspended 10 wrestlers after they were caught purchasing drugs in the Signature Pharmacy investigation.

The 30-year-old Hardy, who dropped the company’s Intercontinental championship to Chris “Jericho” Irvine last night in Milwaukee, was previously released from WWE in of 2003. At the time, the company cited erratic behavior, drug use and refusal to go to rehab for the dismissal.

It would be good if WWE gets their sport drug free and Hardy gets his addiction problems taken care of
