Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jon Lieber will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his right foot.

Lieber was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 21 after sustaining the injury the night before against Cleveland.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. Mark S. Myerson at the Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore on Friday.

The 37-year-old right-hander is 3-6 with a 4.73 ERA in 14 games (12 starts) this season.
