Louis Williams' slam with under 30 seconds left helped the 76ers edge the defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs, 65-61, in the inaugural game of the NBA Summer League.

Williams netted a game-high 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Bobby Jones scored 11.

Former UNLV product Louis Amundson contributed 16 points and a game-best11 rebounds.

"I'm just trying to work hard and play as well as I can," Amundson said. "I understand that the D-League is different from the NBA, it's a big step up. I'm just trying to work on my game and work hard, that's all I can do."

No. 12 overall pick Thaddeus Young ended with five points.

"It was great being out there playing," Young said. "Much more physical than the college game, but I think I held my own and did alright."

The game marked the first of a nine-day, 55-game schedule for the summer league.
