Bullpen Rumors

Rumors continue to swirl as to how the Phillies will address their bullpen. Most of the reports revolve around the club's need for another lefty in the bullpen.

A story by Derrick Goold (about half-way down) on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Web site briefly says that the Phillies are a possible destination for lefty Ricardo Rincon, who was released by the St. Louis Cardinals. Philadelphia was one team thought to be interested in trading for Rincon before he was let go.

George King of The New York Post wrote today that the Phillies made contact with Ron Villone and agent Scott Boras, but did not reach an agreement with the left-handed reliever. Villone was released by the New York Yankees last week.

In addition to Rincon, general manger Pat Gillick told the The News Journal that the club is not interested in Dustin Hermanson , who was released by the Cincinnati Reds.
