Philadelphia Eagles running back Clarence Peaks passed away on Saturday at the age of 71 at a nursing home in Voorhees, NJ.
The Eagles originally selected Peaks in the first round of the 1957 draft and he still ranks 10th on the team's all-time rushing list with 2,927 yards gained during a seven-year stint in Philadelphia.
In 1960, Peaks led the Eagles in rushing, averaging 5.4 yards an attempt, but injured his ankle near the middle of the season and was forced to stand on the sidelines and watch as the team won the NFL Championship.
He was traded to Pittsburgh in 1964, and spent the final two seasons of his career with the Steelers.
After wrapping up his NFL career, Peaks went on to become an analyst for the WIP radio broadcast of Eagles games as well as a TV analyst with ABC for various NFL and college football games.
He is survived by two sons, Clarence Jr. and Allan, a brother, Ronald, and a sister, Cathy.
