Andre Iguodala scored 18 points and Kyle Korver tallied 17 to lead the Philadelphia 76ers over the New York Knicks, 92-90, at Madison Square Garden.
Andre Miller added 14 points and seven assists and Willie Green had 13 points for the Sixers, who have won two of three.
Stephon Marbury provided just about all the offense for the Knicks, scoring 30 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out six assists, but it wasn't enough to stop his team's losing streak that has now reached three games.
Renaldo Balkman added 17 points and 16 boards and Eddy Curry had 14 points and 11 rebounds for New York, which remains 2 1/2 games behind the Orlando Magic for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference despite suffering its seventh loss in eight games.
Down 78-69 a little over four minutes into the final quarter, the Sixers went on a 21-5 run to take the lead for good. Korver, who had seven points during the surge, gave the Sixers the lead at 82-81, and Rodney Carney ended it with a jumper with 57 seconds left for a 90-83 lead.
New York made it interesting, drawing within 92-90 after a Marbury driving layup with three seconds left. Then, after Korver missed a pair of free throws with two seconds left, New York got the rebound and called a timeout with 1.1 seconds left.
On the ensuing inbounds, Marbury attempted a turn-around three-pointer, but it fell short and the Sixers escaped with the win.
Philadelphia won three of four from the Knicks this season.
The Sixers led for most of the contest, holding a 26-20 edge after one quarter and a 46-39 advantage at halftime.
Philadelphia then extended to a 53-43 lead after an Iguodala bucket in the opening minutes of the third quarter. However, New York quickly answered with a 15-4 run to take the lead. Still down by 10 points, 55-45, Marbury spearheaded the run by scoring 13 points and ending it with a free throw with just under 3 1/2 minutes remaining for a 60-59 edge.
New York continued to hold a one-point lead going into the fourth, 67-66, and then opened the stanza with a 12-3 run to extend to a 78-69 lead. Mardy Collins ended the surge with a three-pointer with just under eight minutes to play.
