Safety Mike Doss was scheduled to visit with the Eagles today but he never made it to town. Doss agreed to a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
The fifth year veteran started 42 of the 46 career regular season games he has played in after originally being a second-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in 2003. Doss was the 58th overall player selected in the draft and played under current Vikings Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier while in Indy.
Doss has been a part of a winning tradition in Indianapolis, going 38-13 in the games he has played for the Colts and the franchise has won the past four AFC South titles. He played the opening six games of 2006 with four starts before being sidelined with an ACL injury as the Colts went on to win Super Bowl XLI.
“Mike has been a winner throughout his career and he gives us a veteran presence,” said Vikings head coach Brad Childress. “It’s always important to add quality football players to the roster. He’s won a national championship and been part of a Super Bowl winner; that’s experience you can’t take for granted.”
