Saint Joseph's men's basketball coach Phil Martelli announced that three scholastic standouts - C.J. Aiken, Langston Galloway and Daryus Quarles - have signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.
The three student-athletes will attend the University beginning in the Fall 2010.
Aiken, a 6-9, 185-pound center, is from Conshohocken, Pa., and Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. He averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks last season for the Plymouth Whitemarsh team that went 25-6 and played in the PIAA Class AAAA state semifinals.
Galloway is a 6-3 guard from Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, La. He averaged 21.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists as a junior, helping his team to the Louisiana State Class A semifinals. He was an All-Metro and Class 1A All-State selection. He currently lives in Baton Rouge, but his mother, Jeralyn, is a Philadelphia native and the sister of Hawks' assistant coach Geoff Arnold.
Quarles, a 6-6 forward from Paulsboro, N.J., averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots as a junior at Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J. He has since transferred back to Paulsboro High School, where he played his freshman and sophomore seasons, but will be ineligible to play this year because of the transfer. As a sophomore at Paulsboro, Quarles averaged 17 points and earned All-South Jersey and All-Group 1 First Team honors.
"We're delighted to add C.J., Langston and Daryus, not only to our basketball program, but to the University community. All three players have bright futures and I'm confident that they will continue to grow and improve on and off the court," said Hawks' head coach Phil Martelli.
Aiken, Galloway and Quarles were all ranked as Rivals Top 150 players.
