Eagles' Hobbs done for season

The Eagles placed cornerback Ellis Hobbs on season-ending injured reserve Wednesday.

Hobbs, who was acquired from New England for a pair of fifth-round draft picks on draft day, injured his neck against Dallas on Sunday. He was the Birds' nickel back and primary kick returner.

Rookie wideout Jeremy Maclin took over for Hobbs on returns Sunday but since he is now a starter the Eagles might look at some other full-time options. Meanwhile, Joselio Hanson should move into the nickel back role.

To replace Hobbs on the roster the Eagles signed cornerback Ramzee Robinson.

Robinson (5-10, 190) was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round of the 2007 draft and saw action in 19 games from 2007-08, registering 11 tackles, 1 KD and 25 special teams tackles. He was released on 9/5/09 as part of the team’s final roster cut down.

The 25-year-old cornerback played collegiately at Alabama, where he compiled 123 tackles and four interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. A native of Huntsville, AL, Robinson played quarterback and cornerback at Butler High School, where he earned all-state honorable mention honors as a senior.
