Romo is top "athlete-golfer"

Golf Digest has unveiled its latest ranking of the “Top 150 Athlete-Golfers.” The full list is featured in the November issue of the magazine, on newsstands now. Dallas Cowboys' QB Tony Romo is No. 1 with a handicap of plus-3.3.

The Cowboys signal caller, who should probably be concentrating a little more on football, won two tournaments and finished second in another during the off-season. Romo shot 71-69 to win the Will County Amateur in Crete, Ill., in April, and partnered with PGA pro Mark Walker to win the Northern Texas PGA Pro-Scratch Championship. In July, Romo finished second to Rick Rhoden at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe.

Athletes with local ties that finished on the list are:

Phils Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt at No. 4
Former Phils infielder Nick Punto at No. 26
Former Phils pitcher Kyle Lohse is No. 33
Former Sixers forward Kyle Lorver at No. 61
Phils 2b Chase Utley at No. 106
Phils CF Shane Victorino and RF Jayson Werth are tied at 113
Sixers Hall of famer Julius Erving at No. 124
Phils pitchers Cole Hamels and Brad Lidge are among a group at 125
And yes...Charles Barkley at 150
