Rookie Victor 'Macho' Harris took reps with the first-team defense Monday, a strong indication he's beaten out Quintin Demps for the starting spot at free safety.
"I had an opportunity and I didn't capitalize on it," Demps said. "That's competition. That's what happens."
A fifth-round draft pick out of Virginia Tech, Harris played cornerback with the Hokies, recording 15 interceptions, including four for touchdowns, in 40 stars.
Sean McDermott is really rolling the dice here. Demps is certainly not an NFL starter at this point but neither is Harris. Veteran Sean Jones should have been the choice.

I agree! Jones should definitely be the choice to start at free safety.
