McMahon to announce Senate candidacy

World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon will reportedly announce her candidacy for a U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut this week.

"A decision is imminent, and she will likely make a decision over the next couple of days," a Republican strategist to TheHill.com. "It will be made sooner rather than later."

The Hill reports that McMahon is "99 percent" ready to announce her candidacy. Her final hurdle would be making sure there is a legitimate opportunity to win the Senate race. The fact that her husband is worth over $800 million gives her that "legitimate opportunity."

"She is taking into consideration a number of factors, including resources and the time commitment it would take to win," another source said. "She plays to win, so if she gets in, she’s in all the way. She has the capacity to bring considerable resources to the race, and she has an established record."
