Smith, Grant may play against Eagles

Kevin Kolb is watching this closely.

The NFL is expected to make a decision by the end of the day on Tuesday as to whether Saints defensive ends Will Smith and Charles Grant will be suspended in the ongoing, muddled StarCaps case.

Vikings All-Pro defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams were also suspended by the league for taking the weight loss supplement but have successfully battled the NFL in Minnesota State Court, enabling them to play this season.

Smith and Grant aren't fighting but the NFL has been holding off any suspension until the Minnesota litigation is over, presumably since the league doesn't want the perception that players on separate teams face different consequences for doing the same thing -- a red herring since that happens all the time.

In fact, as far as I can tell suspensions seem to handed down depending on Roger Goodell's mood that day.

The moral of the story? If fetching FOXNews babe Jane Skinner (Goodell's better half) is being nice to the commish, it's probably a good time to snort coke in a car or kill a bunch of defenseless animals. If she's not, don't try and lose weight.
