Former WWE champ Hardy arrested with boatload of drugs

Former World Wrestling Entertainment champion Jeff Hardy was arrested Friday when police found numerous drugs inside his home in Cameron, NC.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Hardy's home where they found 262 Vicodin pills, 180 Soma pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids and a residual amount of powder cocaine with an estimated street value of $2,500.

Hardy was arrested on charges of felony trafficking in opium, two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substance, felony possession of cocaine, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

His brother, WWE star Matt Hardy, posted bail of $125,000.

Hardy has been suspended by the company twice in the past for drug related offenses and was once fired after refusing rehab.

Hardy, who was arguably the WWE's biggest star and making nearly $2 million annually, left the company on good terms when his contract expired last month. He is peddling a reality show to both MTV and FOX and had numerous nagging injuries. Hardy was expected to make a return early next year but this incident could make it very hard for WWE to bring him back.

"A lot of exaggerations are out there today, don't believe everything you read 4 it is not true," hardy wrote on Twitter. "I am at home and fine - thanks for your concern."

Can't speak for Hardy but he may be referring to the intent to sell implications. While that might seem like a lot of drugs for a lay person, pro wrestlers are known to consume large quantities of painkillers.

Hardy also denied his brother bailed him out of jail but then could be an effort to protect him since Matt is still employed by WWE.

"For the record, Matt didn't bail me out, loan me money, or is his name on anything.. He's just learning about today's situation, " Jeff wrote. " "The media is the media, I wish they would at least report the story correctly and accurately. I will make a statement later."

A Moore County press release reported the bond and Chief Deputy Neil Godfrey told TMZ.com that Jeff's brother posted bail.

The WWE has made no public comment on the arrest but Matt checked in on Twitter.

"It's been a long, stressful day for me...But everything will be ok. Guaranteed. Like Public Enemy said, 'Don't believe the hype," Matt Hardy wrote." "And remember, innocent until proven guilty."
