Eye on Lehigh

In an explosive scoring drive, QB Donovan McNabb completed back-to-back passes to WRs Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett, respectively. McNabb’s 45-yard pass to Brown set up a 5-yard fade touchdown pass to Baskett who out-jumped a defender in the corner of the end zone.

GREEN AKERS…

K David Akers blasted a 60-yard field goal in practice this morning with plenty of room to spare. The three-time Pro Bowler claimed it was just like kicking in a game. “The fans were all jacked up. People don’t believe this, but literally my arms were shaking,” said Akers. “My legs were shaking. When you’re in front of the team, the fans are out here, it’s as real as it gets in a game setting. I was back there, [the fans] were getting all fired up when I hit the 52[-yard field goal]. I was like, ‘What the heck? Let’s back this thing up and give it a shot.’ I just hit it real good…It’s good to feel when you hit a ball good and it really goes.”

Akers also felt that the kick wasn’t simply luck as he said the trio of LS Jon Dorenbos, holder Sav Rocca, and he are starting to get in sync with each other. “I think that having us together for two years now, it’s going to be pretty positive in my opinion. We had a great practice schedule last year. Our statistics in practice were outstanding. Usually your practice and your games are very close. You play like you practice. You practice like you play. The same thing being true here through the minicamps and so far during training camp, we’ve been very consistent. I’m hoping that transfers over.”
