Eagles cut von Oelhoffen

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have signed DT Mike Marquardt and released DT Kimo von Oelhoffen.

A rookie out of Arizona State, Marquardt (6-2, 302) originally signed as a free agent with the Bengals on 5/2/08 before being released on 7/7/08. He then signed with the Panthers on 7/31/08, but was released on 8/5/08.

The 26-year-old Marquardt is a native of Vista, CA, and played for two years at Brigham Young before transferring to Arizona State, where he twice garnered Honorable Mention All-Pac 10 selections. During his two seasons as a Sun Devil, Marquardt registered 48 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one blocked kick.

While attending Brigham Young, Marquardt served a church mission in Bahia Blanca, Argentina from 2002-2003.

Mike Marquardt is amazing on defense, plays much bigger than he is and freakishly strong. He will do an amazing job at allowing the LB group to get in and pressure more frequently.
