Join me on the radio

Join The Phanatic Magazine's John Gottlieb Saturday at 6:00 p.m. (et) for another edition of Johns on Sports, coming to you live from the studios of WTBQ 99.1 FM in New York.

The Yankees can't seem to distance themselves from the .500 mark and will look to break even (once again) with a game against the Royals this afternoon. Mike Puma from the New York Post will join me at 6:15 to talk about Johnny Damon's comments earlier in the week about Joba, Chamberlain's next start on Sunday and Hank wanting to bring back Brian Cashman.

It's an exciting day in sports as Big Brown looks to become the first horse since Affirmed thirty years ago to win the Triple Crown. I'll talk about the race once it's done at 6:30.

Then at 7:15 Ian Thomsen from Sports Illustrated will come on the program from Boston to talk about the aftermath of Game 1 of the NBA Finals and what to expect from Paul Pierce and Kobe Bryant in Game 2 on Sunday.

It's the third straight weekend with an exciting MMA card...this one coming live from London with Matt Hughes returning to the Octagon to square off against Thiago Alves. I'll talk about that and if last weekend's EliteXC card on CBS helped or hurt the promotion of MMA.

And the sports broadcasting industry lost a pioneer this morning with the loss of Jim McKay. I'll touch upon his life and his contribution to making the industry what it is today.

Join the program on WTBQ.com, calling in at (845) 651-1110, or writing an e-mail to johnsonsports@gmail.com.
