Bye Bye Borowski
One man's damaged goods is another man's, well, damaged goods.
Yet, the Indians medical staff felt 35-year-old relief pitcher Joe Borowski was worth taking the risk on. Randy Miller, as posted in our RUMOR MILL this morning, stated that the Phillies were still interested in the right-hander at the price of a one-year contract.
It was not to be, now the Phillies must turn to plan B, or is it F?

CLEVELAND, OH --- The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed free agent RHP JOE BOROWSKI to a one-year Major League contract for the 2007 season. The deal contains a club option for the 2008 campaign.
Borowski, 35, posted a record of 3-3 with a 3.75 ERA and 36 saves in 2006 (69.2IP, 63H, 29ER, 33BB, 64K) as the closer for the Florida Marlins. Borowski finished 3rd in the National League with 36 saves in 43 chances and 2nd in the NL with 60 games finished. Joe limited Major League hitters to a .235 (63-268) average and .377 slugging % against for the season, including a mark of .167 (20-120) against left-handed hitters and .233 (27-116) average with runners on base. From June 4 thru the end of August he posted an ERA of 2.52 (35.2IP, 28H, 10ER).
Borowski owns a career Major League record of 17-26 with a 3.87 ERA and 80 career saves (372.0IP, 349H, 160ER, 152BB, 305K) over 10 Major Leagues seasons since debuting with the Baltimore Orioles in 1995. Borowski finished 6th in the National League with 33 saves in 37 attempts in 2003 with the Chicago Cubs and recorded an ERA of 1.17 (7.2IP, 6H, 1R/ER) in the 2003 post-season for the Cubs. Since the 2003 season he has saved 82% (78 for 95) of his opportunities.
