Flyers recall Eric Meloche and Stefan Ruzicka

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have recalled 5'10", 205-poundright wing Eric Meloche and 6'0", 200-pound right wing Stefan Ruzicka from theirAmerican Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according toGeneral Manager Paul Holmgren. Meloche has been assigned uniform number #40,while Ruzicka will wear uniform number #9. Both players will be available fortonight's Flyers-Carolina Hurricanes game at the Wachovia Center.

In addition, the Flyers announced that right wing Niko Dimitrakos was reassignedto the Phantoms.

Meloche, 30, posted two assists and two penalty minutes in seven games for theFlyers this season. He also recorded two goals and two assists for four pointsand 18 penalty minutes in 14 games for the Phantoms.

In 68 career regular season NHL games over four NHL seasons with the PittsburghPenguins and the Flyers (2001-02 through 2003-04 and 2006-07), Meloche hasregistered eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points and 34 penalty minutes. Hewas acquired by the Flyers from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for therights to Vaclav Pletka on August 2, 2006.

Ruzicka, 21, recorded a goal and two assists for three points and four penaltyminutes in 12 games for the Flyers this season. He also registered seven goalsand six assists for 13 points and 13 penalty minutes in 11 games for thePhantoms.

In 13 career regular season NHL games over the last two seasons for the Flyers(2005-06 and 2006-07), Ruzicka has posted three points (1G,2A) and six penaltyminutes. He was drafted by the Flyers in the third round (81st overall) of the2003 NHL Entry Draft.Dimitrakos was scoreless in five games for the Flyers this season.
