The Atlanta Hawks have signed former Sixers guard Lou Williams to a multi-year contract.
Williams, an Atlanta native, was runner-up in the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year voting last season after leading the Sixers in scoring at 14.9 points per game.
Williams sent out a tweet confirming the deal.
"ATL... LOUWILLVILLE.. happy to be apart (sic) of a team thats similar to the Sixers.. Young, athletic, and hardworking.. #highlightfactory," Williams tweeted.
Williams has spent his entire seven-year career with the Sixers after being selected out of an Atlanta-area high school in the second round of the 2005 draft. Only 25, has per-game averages of 11.3 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds.
Speculation is that the deal is for the $5 million mid-level, meaning Williams lost money at least this season by opting out of his deal in Philadelphia.
The Sixers replaced Williams by trading a future first round pick for Nick Young.
