The Flyers have signed defensemen Cullen Eddy and Danny Syvret and forward Mike Testwuide to contracts, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.
Eddy, 23 (11/18/88), signs with the Flyers after playing the last two seasons under an American Hockey League contract with the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms. The 6-0, 195-lb native of Hidden Valley, PA split both seasons between the Phantoms and their ECHL affiliate, the Greenville Road Warriors. In 54 games with the Phantoms last season, Eddy recorded two goals and 13 assists for 15 points along with 130 PIM. He has appeared in 101 games for the Phantoms over the last two seasons, scoring five goals and adding 20 assists for 25 points. Eddy was also named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year Award for his outstanding contributions to the Glens Falls community during the 2011-12 season.
Syvret, 27, (6/13/85), returns for a third tour of duty with the Flyers organization after posting seven goals and 35 assists for 42 points in 75 games last season for the Peoria Rivermen, the AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues. A 5-11, 203-pound native of Millgrove, Ontario, Syvret first joined the Flyers in a June 2008 trade from Edmonton and split the next two seasons between the Flyers and Phantoms. He signed with Anaheim prior to the 2010-11 season, but was re-acquired by the Flyers in a Nov. 2010 trade and once again split the season between the Flyers and Phantoms.
Syvret has recorded two goals and two assists in 27 games for the Flyers, including his first career NHL goal in the 2010 NHL Winter Classic in Boston. He has 27 goals and 79 assists for 106 points in 142 games with the Phantoms, including a 2008-09 season where his 57 points ranked second among all AHL defensemen.
Testwuide, 25 (4/5/87), is a 6-3, 210-lb native of Vail, CO. He originally signed with the Flyers as a free agent in March 2010 after completing his senior season at Colorado College. He has appeared in 142 games for the Phantoms over the last two seasons, recording 30 goals and 38 assists for 68 points.
