(The Phanatic Magazine) - The Eagles have signed wide receiver Andrew Brewer, a teammate of quarterback Mike Kakfa at Northwestern and a veteran of two UFL seasons.
Brewer was signed after injuries to Riley Cooper (broken collarbone) and Ronald Johnson (dislocated ankle).
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Brewer played two seasons in the UFL with the Omaha Nighthawks under general manager Rick Mueller, who is now a player personnel executive with the Eagles.
The Tulsa, OK, native was originally recruited to Northwestern as a quarterback, but was converted to wide receiver and ended up catching 76 passes for 1,118 yards and nine touchdowns. As a senior in 2009, he set a school single-season record with 16.2 yards per catch average as he hauled in 57 passes from Kafka for 925 yards and nine scores.
Johnson was waived/injured to make room for Brewer on the roaster and will be placed on season-ending injured reserve once he passes through waivers.
