Matt Carle will take his talents to Hockey Bay, as the unrestricted free agent defenseman inked a six-year deal worth a reported $33 million late Wednesday night.
Carle played 12 games for the Bolts to start the 2008-09 season before the Flyers acquired him in early November for two players.
"We're very pleased to announce Matt's signing. His ability to play in all situations will be a great addition to our defense," said Tampa general manager Steve Yzerman in a statement.
The 27-year-old played in every game for Philadelphia in 2011-12, recording four
goals and 38 points with a plus-4 rating. Carle led all Flyers in
average ice time with 23:01 per game and blocked shots with 164.
He also led
all rearguards in shots on goal with 132 and ranked second in both total points and power-play goals. Carle also played in 11 playoff games,
recording two goals and six points as the Flyers fell to New Jersey in the second round.
