(Phanatic Magazine) - Former Villanova guard Maalik Wayns has signed a free agent deal with his hometown 76ers.
Wayns, who also starred at Roman Catholic where he was a Parade All-American as well as a McDonald's All-American, was not selected in the recent NBA Draft after leaving Villanova after his junior campaign.
According to the Montgomery County Times Herald, Wayns (6-foot-2, 200) agreed to a deal similar to the one Lavoy Allen received after the Sixers took him in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft at No. 50 overall.
Allen received a $60,000 signing bonus from the Sixers and went on to receive the rookie minimum of $473,604 after making the team.
Wayns should be in the mix as a backup point guard along with veteran Royal Ivey behind Jrue Holiday.
