Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Arena Football League is no more.
The league's demise was first reported on over the weekend when Tampa Bay Storm president and COO Jim Borghesi announced on his Facebook page that the AFL will soon disband.
A source told PFT that Borghesi is no longer in a position to know what the AFL is doing but he was right, the league will be folding its tents. A press conference is expected early this week, no later than Wednesday.
Borghesi broke the news of the impending death of the AFL on his Facebook page over the weekend.
The AFL originally suspended play in 2009 with the intention of resuming in 2010 but the indoor football league has been unable to put together a sustainable plan.
The Philadelphia Soul will go down as the final champions for the AFL.
