Globetrotters play on Spectrum roof

The Harlem Globetrotters and Washington Generals met on the roof of the Wachovia Spectrum today.

The Globetrotters won the game 36-24 and look to repeat their success this weekend at the Liacouras Center (Saturday at 1pm), Sovereign Bank Arena (Saturday at 7:30pm), and a double header at the Wachovia Center (Sunday at 12pm and 5pm). Tickets for those games are available via ComcastTIX.com.

Ten total players and dozens of media made the trek to the roof of the famed arena, which is set to close in 2009 to make way for Philly Live. The Globetrotters players included Special K Daley, Scooter Christensen, El Gato Melendez, Ant Atkinson, and Bam Bam Bamiro. The "workout" to the roof (safely) including 110 steps, a walk across a catwalk, and two ladders totaling 18 rungs.
