The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed running back Derrick Ward.
Terms of the deal for the former New York Giant were not disclosed, but the Tampa Tribune reported it to be a four-year contract worth $17 million, with $3 million guaranteed.
The Eagles were thought to be interested in the 28-year-old Ward, who has run for 1,750 yards with five touchdowns and has added 69 catches for 576 yards with a score in 51 career games.
Last season Ward had a breakout year with the Giants, finishing with 1,025 yards and two touchdowns on only 182 carries to average 5.6 yards per attempt -- tops among backs with at least 100 rushes. In addition, he caught 41 passes for 384 yards.
