The Sixers have agreed to terms with 29-year-old Slovenian center Primoz Brezec on a 1-year deal for the veterans' minimum. Brezec, who has seven seasons of NBA service, would make just over $1.1 million.
Brezec's agent, Marc Cornstein, confirmed the agreement with the Philadelphia Daily News. "I think Primoz will fit in well in [new coach] Eddie Jordan's system because he's a shooter, he can pick and pop, and he's savvy," Cornstein told the newspaper. "He gives them insurance and flexibility up front."
The 7-foot-1 Brezec, who played in Italy last season, averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in seven seasons with the Pacers, Bobcats, Pistons and Raptors. He is the presumptive replacement for Theo Ratliff, who fled to San Antonio last month.
Brezec is just a journeyman but its nice to finally see the organization opening up its eyes to international players.
