EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ -- The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) announced today that it has selected IZOD, a division of Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation, as the naming rights partner for the Arena at the Meadowlands Sports Complex.
IZOD, one of the world's most recognizable fashion brands, has agreed to a five-year commitment with the NJSEA. The activation of the IZOD Center will be in place by October 31, when the Nets open their season against the Chicago Bulls.
Following a public RFP process, which was administered in coordination with Nets Sports and Entertainment, LLC, IZOD joined Rocawear and Southpole in submitting proposals for the naming rights.
"We are thrilled to have IZOD as the naming rights partner for the arena at the Meadowlands," said Carl Goldberg, chairman of the NJSEA. "This was an extremely thorough process and we were most impressed by IZOD's presentation to our selection committee, including its plans for re-branding, activation and refreshing of the arena. IZOD also presented the best economic benefits to the Authority of the three bidders. We want to express our sincere gratitude to both Rocawear and Southpole, and appreciate their interest in the arena."
The IZOD name is not unfamiliar to the state of New Jersey. With 32 retail outlets, 1,000 employees based in New Jersey, and its sister brand, Arrow, being the lead supporter of the Save Ellis Island Campaign, Phillips-Van Heusen has established a strong presence in the state.
"In Phillips-Van Heusen and its IZOD brand, we couldn't ask for a more professional and diversified company and brand to represent our building and our state," said George Zoffinger, president of the NJSEA. "I would like to thank Brett Yormark, the president and CEO of Nets Sports and Entertainment, for working through our process and his effort in delivering such an outstanding naming rights partner to the NJSEA."
"We are extremely excited to work with IZOD, a true lifestyle brand, as it activates the building against music, sports and family entertainment," Brett Yormark said. "They have the full support of the Nets organization," said Yormark. "We appreciated the opportunity to work with the NJSEA on the naming rights of the arena; it is a role we are beginning to specialize in, as we launch a naming rights division to facilitate naming rights for sports and entertainment venues around the country."
